First things first. The Story Library's first competition has been launched. We are accepting entries until Sunday May 18th, so if you’ve got a story in mind, get it to us and see how you fare in the competition. More information about the competition is on the Stories page.

The Story Library has also taken a leap into the world of audio stories. We currently have three stories read by volunteers on YouTube, and they will soon be embedded into the site. If you have a story but don’t consider yourself a writer we are now accepting recorded stories.
Email your submissions to headlibrarian@thestorylibrary.com

With the launch of the competition comes another remodel of the Stories page with the addition of teaser lines for each story, so readers know a little more about a story before they click on the link.

The competition already has four entries, so take a read and see what you think.

So here we are in February 2008, and another update for the site.

The Story Library is busier than ever, with visitors coming from all over the world. As you’d expect, most of our readers come from North America, the UK and Australia, but people have been peeking their head around the door from places as diverse as Turkey, Taiwan, Sweden, Vietnam, Costa Rica and Jamaica; and they are staying awhile too!

Wherever you are visiting from why not submit one of your stories to the library? A story in The Story Library is here forever – a permanent home for your memories.

So, to the update. We have added a ratings feature to the site. All stories now have a rating between one and five stars at the end; a chance for readers like you to leave a little feedback about your reading here.

This is as far as The Story Library is going to go in this direction. We are not here to judge, we are here to look after your stories. We’ll see how the ratings system works out, and if it fits in with the atmosphere here in The Story Library then we’ll make it a permanent feature.

Some new stories just got posted, so kick off your shoes, sit back and read a few...

Well, well, well. How time flies. Here we are and it is almost Christmas.

This month we have launched the new look of the Stories page. It was looking kind of cluttered and a redesign was overdue.

There is also the new category "Famous People" which could use some stories. More new categories will be added in early 2008.

Also, we are now encouraging shorter stories, anecdotes even. So, if you have a quickie that you'd like to add then simply go to the submissions page and do your business.

Since our launch in June '07, The Story Library has been growing steadily. We now have almost seventy stories in sixteen categories, with new stories and categories being added all the time.

The most recent innovation can be seen in the Names category which is the start of posting very short stories. Hopefully we'll see more in the future.

There are many new features planned for the site, and in the coming months we'll be adding them - so keep checking back in to see how we are doing.

We are open to any suggestions regarding features for the site, in fact anything you think we can do to make the site a better place to hang out and read a few stories. Email your ideas to headlibrarian@thestorylibrary.com

Many thanks to everyone who has submitted stories, and if you feel you have a story to tell then why not secure it for all time in The Story Library - there's no finer feeling than seeing yourself in print.
